Dublin Hills: Spring

I enjoyed a lovely hike yesterday morning along the Calaveras Ridge Trail in Dublin Hills Regional Park.  The wildflowers are beginning to bloom, especially the lupine.  A few photos from the hike…

Gardeninacity, the bird is a killdeer. It got its name from the sound of its call, “killdeer, killdeer, killdeer!”

    1. Ha! You answered first, but I didn’t see it. The bird was also acting in the typical killdeer way, calling to us and beckoning for us to follow him (or her) to lure us away from the nest.

  8. The lupine really is beautiful. I would love to grow some, but the soil here is too alkaline and heavy. What is that bird in the picture?

Oops! There were tons of cows the last time I was out there. I’ve never seen so many cows right on the trail.

      1. That’s how it was yesterday, too. Luckily, we had Sheryl with us, who can speak to the cows!
