This lovely one-mile loop trail is one of my favorite hikes in the San Francisco East Bay to do with little kids.  My son and I hiked this regularly when he was three.  On Saturday, I walked the trail alone… a rare treat.  I enjoyed walking at my own pace, taking the time to stop and take photos along the way.  My son, now five, usually likes to “hike” here at a trail-run pace. 

Interested in hiking the Indian Joe Nature Trail?  The best place to begin this hike is at the Old Green Barn Visitor Center.  For those of you who like to learn about things while you hike along, I recommend you pick up the self-guided brochure for this trail.  The naturalist in the visitor center will be happy to loan you a copy.  The visitor center is open weekends, 10am-4pm.  For more information about Sunol Regional Wilderness, visit the website… www.ebparks.org/parks/sunol
