Scrambling: Fun on the Rocks

I wish more city parks had rock structures like these for kids to scramble on.  The following photos were taken earlier this week at Emerald Glen Park in Dublin, California.  The boulders challenge kids in a way the regular play structures don’t.  In order to climb these rocks, children have to use their minds to pick a route, figure out how to climb it, and then use their bodies in creative ways to actually get to the top.  If their first route doesn’t work, they have to get back down and try again.  Great for both brains and bodies!  Love this park!

    Linda,

I couldn’t agree more. Mind and body are engaged in traversing these natural “gyms.”

I still love to scramble over boulders.

    Thanks.

This looks great. Wonder how we get more ‘rocks’ out there.

Probably the same way our city did… buy them from somewhere! I assume from the company that manufactured the play structures…

Your son is one lucky boy to have a mom who exposes him to nature like you do. 🙂
