A Walk Around the Neighborhood

The best way for me to relax and unwind is to head out the front door for a walk with my camera.  Here are a few photos from my walk earlier this week.  I wasn’t able to capture any images with my camera, but the highlight of this walk was while I was in the oak forest up the canyon.  A Cooper’s Hawk glided silently down through the canyon, under the canopy, flying within ten feet over my head.  Mystical… gorgeous.

Here are a few photos I was able to capture…. a robin (American Robin), a phoebe (Black Phoebe), a deer, a solitary flower, and dandelions.

Liked the juxtaposition of the wildflower and the barbed wire fence. Nice.

  3. I completely understand the recuperative value of a walkabout, camera in hand! That’s how I, too, gain a little composure from time to time! We attended a funeral today and made plans to leave the service and get down to one of the coastal harbors nearby so we could just walk and reflect a bit, and I was glad to have my camera and took a few pictures of the beauty around me. I felt my troubles kind of slough off for a bit! I certainly enjoyed your photos here, and appreciate your sharing. There’s a lot of beauty all around us and we just have to be alert! Debra

Yes, never underestimate the restorative value of nature. Especially the ocean, which never fails to remind me that my problems are small in comparison to the vastness of the world. Thank you for sharing your story!

  4. We just returned from a family vacation in California. We all agreed that if we lived in CA, we would always want to stay outside! While we escaped the 106 degree temps in GA, the weather in CA was perfect and the scenery was outstanding!
How wonderful that you live in such a scenic neighborhood. I love the pictures.

Nothing like a peaceful hike to give you a chance to let your mind unwind. I’m still out there hiking and biking but this oppressive heat is just not my favorite time of year. Lovely photos. Stay safe.

I hope you’re able to get out for a nice hike this weekend, too, despite the heat. It’s so strange to think so much of the country is experiencing oppressive heat, while we’re experiencing unseasonably cool temps here on the west coast.
